We need bub as sleepy and as comfortable as possible. Before the shoot, please feed baby before you leave and top up when you arrive at the studio. Also please do not let bub sleep, so 45 minutes of awake time before you leave your home, try giving a bath, let them kick around with a just a nappy on, tickle there toes, this will ensure those squishy sleepy newborn poses.
I CANT STRESS enough that it is so important to do your best to keep them awake at least 45 mins prior to the shoot, No longer than 1.5 Hours as this seems to make them past tired and they can become very fussy when posing.
Many parents come in saying "baby has been sleeping all morning but trust me he sleeps sooo good this time of day!'' Only to have bub wake up since they will be unclothed and unswaddled. ( the studio is very warm due to this, so please be prepared for a hot few hours.)
Sessions last between 1-2 hours sometimes longer if bub is a light sleeper , is hungry or cluster feeding. The easiest way to ensure a sleepy baby is the willingness to nurse/bottlefeed/dummy off and on.
If you could bring the dummy even if you haven't used one yet helps IMMENSLY in the session, especially if bub is always cluster feeding, even if bub doesn't take a dummy normally, she/he might during the session as I am constantly moving and reposing which disturbs their sleep.
Please bring a nice neutral colour and simple design top or dress, laces chiffons and soft material with short or no sleeves always looks great. Black one if you feel more comfortable in black.
If the boys prefer not to be shirtless, please bring logo free black and a white shirt and a snug pair of chinos or denim shorts.
Sisters: bring a snug fitting top or dress in neutral tones, again in simple design and nice soft materials are always a winner.
Brothers: shirtless is preferred please take a few moments to talk about this with your little guy before you arrive but if he prefers not to just a nice black and white tee is fine.
If siblings are under 5 its always good to come with something they love and a present or a bribe always helps.
If you think bub will pass out in the car, please dress loosely or just in a nappy and wrap, to save waking them once in the studio.
Bring extra clothes as you will possibly, most likey get weed on :)
Things You Need to Tell ME.....
Please let me know if you are bringing Siblings and what age!
Babies Size & Weight!
If you would like to stay in the timeframe elected for you shoot, and avoid extra costs, Please let me know before hand if bub is cluster feeding, if bub has a tongue tie and if bub has reflux. These things should be addressed if possible before coming in for your photos, if they can't we can work our best with bub and may need to book extra time or a larger session to self soothe and settle bubs.
I do need to design a different work flow or reschedule if your baby has/was the following;
Breech or transverse
Any birth injuries
Precipitous Labour/ C- Section
Severe Congenital Heart Defects
Your babies Safety is my priority so Please let me know anything that you think I will need to know or that will affect the session,
Ie. Jaundice Babies, Need to be fed more and kept rehydrated , so I will need to keep in mind that this session may need more milk/feed breaks than another sessions.
